Digital Native?

While I was preparing to write this blog, I looked over to my left and I saw my cousin who is 3 years old playing with an IPHONE like it is his own. It blew my mind watching him play all these games and how he was just operating the phone. My mind is constantly trying to figure out why kids don’t play outside anymore because that’s not cool, and why they just stay on the computer and watch TV and just waste away the day.  When I was little I remember I would hurry and try and do all my homework on the bus so that when I got home I could go and play outside with all my friends until the streets lights came on.

Digital Natives are anyone born from the 1980’s till now.  I however don’t think that you can only be a Digital Native if you are born within this time period. Being a Digital Native just means you have an understanding for the technology and that you use it daily. I believe anyone can be a digital native as long they are willing to become one. Most people that are older probably in there 50’s or 60’s  don’t want anything to do with technology because it always seen in a negative light but I believe if you bring some positivity to  it they will be more than willing to learn about it. I think also we have to show them there is a need for it because most of them don’t think there is a need for it at all. As for the younger children I think we need to make sure that all this technology is put in a positive light and not a negative light. I think also that children need the technology because it can definitely increase their knowledge; But I think that with this said we cannot let our kids get lazy they need to be just as into technology as they are with playing outside and being active.

So with all of this said I believe that anyone can be a Digital Native just with the right skills and knowledge they will be right there with the best of them.
